Members provide blankets and towels to orphans and elderly in Bangkok slums

08/01/2018

As the nights are getting cooler in Bangkok and across Thailand, The Mercy Center in Klong Toey asked The Order of Malta if we could assist with blankets and towels  to be distributed to orphaned children, the elderly and the Indigenous Moken people also known as the Sea Gypsies in the South of  Thailand.

The Mercy Center is situated at Klong Toey- in the heart of the Bangkok slums, it is a beacon of hope for thousands of people and has celebrated 45 years helping the slum community.

Therefore, with much pleaure in the afternoon of December 21st, members and friends delivered 156 blankets and 140 towels to the Mercy Center where they were accepted by Fr. Joe  Maier, C.Ss.R Director and Founder of the Mercy Center.

Report by Adrian Borg Cardona. 27/12/2017.
