Central Eastern Region Day of Reflection

09/08/2018

The Day of Reflection for the central eastern region was held as arranged on the 4 August at the Mary MacKillop Place, North Sydney. Forty Knights and Dames attended including 4 Postulants and we were pleased to have Dr Ian Marshall the National President in our presence also. Our visiting lecturer/moderator was the Rev. Dr Gerard Kelly from the Catholic Institute of Sydney who presented 3 most erudite, informative and stimulating talks through the day with the overriding theme of “Signs of the Times in the Light of the Gospel”.

Very interestingly, he referenced this to papal encyclicals from as long ago as the second Vatican Council by Pope Paul VI through the current Pope Francis promoting dialogue on a personal level through prayer but on a broader level with fellow Christians and in an ecumenical spirit sharing what is in common rather than what divides.

The complete extension of this is joint service for all mankind regardless of race, colour or religion.

Following each address there was discussion by the groups at each table and then general discussion appropriately moderated by Dr Kelly. Our day concluded with a celebration of Mass in the Chapel of Saint Mary MacKillop.
