Lourdes inspires Grogan siblings

In 2018, the Order of Malta’s Asia-Pacific Lourdes delegation included ninety-six pilgrims from (alphabetically) Australia, Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand. Among this delegation were three Australian-Kiribati siblings, Joseph (30), Alice (29) and Caroline Grogan (27). Each cherished this blessed volunteer experience to serve Malades in the spirit of Matthew 25:40, “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren, this you do unto Me”.

Inspired by their father John’s faith as a lay Catholic Missionary, and the mentorship of

Anthony Gerada KMG(Ob), Joseph and Alice shared their first Lourdes pilgrimage with the Order in 2017. In 2018, they invited their sister Caroline and father John to share this precious pilgrimage. Carrying the long childhood shadows of their mother’s tragic psychosis, the Grogan siblings found their Lourdes pilgrimage to be deeply cathartic, healing and spiritually inspirational.
