First Aid Kits for remote schools in Timor-Leste – partnership between St John and the Order of Malta
Late last year Dr Nitin Verma the Hospitaller of St John Ambulance Australia received a request from Francisco Filipe, The Consulate General of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, to provide 500 first aid kits to remote schools across the country.
St John Ambulance have a long history of supporting East Timor through a partnership with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and they partnered with the Order of Malta on this project due to our extensive activities across Timor-Leste, including the provision of pharmaceuticals to medical centres, scholarship programs and basic life support training initiatives.
The kits are jointly funded by St John Ambulance and the Order of Malta and contain a range of First Aid products such as bandages, adherent dressings, and antiseptic wipes, face shield and itch relief. These kits will mean first aid can be provided to the most remote areas of Timor-Leste.
The kits will be delivered to the consulate in Darwin and David Scarf AM, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste will be organising the distribution of these kits.
